What this reset is (and isn’t)
It is a short plan to reduce “automatic” gambling for one day. It is not a treatment plan and it is not a promise of long-term change.
Hour 0–1: remove the fastest path
- Sign out of gambling accounts on your phone.
- Delete saved passwords in the browser.
- Turn off notifications that trigger bets.
Hour 1–4: protect essentials
Move essential money (rent, food, transport) to a place that is harder to spend impulsively. If you share finances, tell one trusted person the minimum you need to say.
Hour 4–12: replace the “gambling window”
Pick one activity that is physically incompatible with gambling (a walk, a meal with someone, a shift, a gym class, hands-on chores). Do it during your usual gambling time.
Hour 12–24: plan a real next step
Write down one official contact you will use tomorrow: your provincial line (via ProblemGambling.ca), a healthcare professional, or Ontario’s navigation line ConnexOntario (1-866-531-2600).
